NON SURGICAL SOLUTIONS - FILLERS

Injections using fillers are used to fill depressed wrinkles and make them even with the skin surface, thereby rendering wrinkles less visible. Most fillers in use today are made of hyaluronic acid (Juvederm, Restylane, etc), which is derived from a natural substance we all have in our skin. These fillers are eventually eliminated by the body. The average duration is from six to nine months.

This material can be injected within minutes and the results are instantaneous. Common areas treated include the glabella (frown line between the eyebrows), naso-labial folds (lines between nose and mouth) and lips (for patients desiring lip enhancement). They may also be used for depressed scars.
Depending on the temporary filler used, results can last from six months to two years. There is absolutely no downtime. You can return to normal activities almost instantly. You might, however, experience some swelling, which usually disappears within 24 hours.

Modern injection techniques today also allow us to restore the natural volume and balance to the face. This can be achieved with a vast array of fillers and, in certain instances with an injectible called Sculptra. This material actually stimulates the production of the patient’s own collagen to create a healthier, more toned skin texture.

As mentioned earlier, one of the hallmarks of the aging process in the face is the loss of subcutaneous fat and volume. A recent addition to our filler armamentarium is Voluma. With this product, which is also made of hyaluronic acid, we can sculpt and restore the youthful proportions to the face.
