You must sleep on your back for the first week following surgery. After this time you may sleep on your side, however be very careful that your ears remain flat against the pillow.
No lifting of heavy objects in the first week following your surgery.
You will be fitted with a bandage after your surgery. This bandage must be kept dry until it is removed one week later. Once the bandage is removed, you need to wear the compressive garment supplied to you by our office for 2 weeks (at night only)
You may begin taking showers four days after surgery. Ensure your bandage stays dry.
Avoid all strenuous exercise for four to six weeks following surgery.
Avoid driving an automobile for while you are taking pain killers.
You will be given a prescription for pain medicine, take this only when you are having discomfort. DO NOT TAKE ANY ASPIRIN or any medications containing aspirin for the first two weeks prior and after surgery. Aspirin interferes with normal blood clotting. Tylenol is a good substitute for aspirin.
