Expect to feel swollen and distended. This is normal and is due to the swelling in the tissue after fat removal. Expect to see bruising.
Wear the girdle provided 24 hours a day for the first month after surgery. It can be removed for washing, bathing, etc., but should not be left off for more than one hour during the first week. The purpose of the girdle is to keep the swelling down and to help the skin nicely retract over the areas of fat removal.
For patients undergoing Smartlipo™, the girdle needs to be worn for only two weeks.
You may start to shower 4 days following your surgery. Baths should be avoided for two weeks following your surgery.

Do not drive an automobile while you are taking your pain medicine.
Expect your result to be obvious after a period of four to six weeks. However, it is important to know that the swelling and retracting of the skin will continue to improve for a period of four to six months. Everyone is different and swelling reduces more quickly in some patients than in others.
